What BlueWallet is

BlueWallet is a self-custody wallet focused on Bitcoin. Its standard Bitcoin wallet can receive and send BTC on the Bitcoin network, which is the Bitcoin payment route covered by this website.

The app also includes advanced options such as watch-only wallets, multiple-signature vaults, fee controls, and connections to a personal Bitcoin node. You do not need those features for a basic payment.

Payment route covered here

This page covers BTC on the Bitcoin network, sometimes called an on-chain Bitcoin payment.

BlueWallet also supports Lightning wallets. Lightning invoices and ordinary Bitcoin addresses are different payment destinations. Do not select Lightning merely because both balances are labelled BTC. Use the payment route and destination format requested by the recipient.

Before installing

Start at the official BlueWallet website and use its app-store or download links. Check the developer name and website address rather than following an advertisement or unsolicited message.

When creating a basic wallet, choose the standard Bitcoin wallet unless you specifically need Lightning, watch-only access, or a multisignature arrangement and understand how that option works.

Recovery and access

BlueWallet states that private keys for its Bitcoin wallets remain on the device and that the wallet can create a backup for recovery. Record the backup exactly as the app instructs and keep it offline.

An app password or device lock protects local access. The backup is still the critical recovery information. Never share it with someone claiming to be BlueWallet support.

Fees and transaction controls

Bitcoin network fees change with network demand and transaction details. BlueWallet offers fee estimates and advanced controls such as replace-by-fee. A higher fee can influence how quickly miners are likely to confirm a transaction, but no wallet can promise an exact confirmation time.

For a normal payment, review the address, amount, selected fee, and expected confirmation time before sending. Do not use advanced fee or coin-control settings unless you understand their effect.

Privacy choices

Bitcoin transactions are public. BlueWallet can generate new receiving addresses and provides tools such as coin control and personal-node connections, but using those tools well requires additional knowledge.

Push notifications, exchange-rate displays, and network connections can involve external services. Review the wallet's current privacy information and disable optional features you do not need.

When it may fit

BlueWallet may fit when you only need Bitcoin, want an open-source wallet, and prefer clear access to transaction and fee controls.

It is not the right wallet for ETH, USDT, LTC, XRP, or TRX. Choose another wallet for those payment routes.
