Support differs between the mobile, desktop, and browser-extension apps. Tron assets are available in the mobile and desktop apps, not the Web3 browser extension.

What Exodus is

Exodus is a self-custody wallet that supports many currencies and networks. It can be useful when you want to manage several payment currencies in one app rather than installing a separate wallet for each network.

The recovery information controls the wallet. Exodus cannot reset it for you if it is lost, and anyone who obtains it may be able to move the funds.

Platform support is not identical. Exodus states that TRX and TRC-20 tokens are available in its mobile and desktop apps, but the Exodus Web3 browser extension does not support Tron. Check the current asset list for the particular app you intend to use.

Before installing

Open the official Exodus download page yourself. Follow its links to the appropriate mobile store or desktop installer. Check the website address before downloading because fake wallet advertisements and lookalike sites may try to collect recovery information.

Decide which app you need before setup. If the payment uses USDT on Tron or TRX on Tron, use a currently supported mobile or desktop version rather than assuming the browser extension will work.

Recovery and access

Exodus provides recovery information that can restore the wallet. Record it using the wallet's current official instructions and keep it offline. A device PIN or app password protects access on that device, but it does not replace the recovery backup.

Do not enter the recovery phrase into a purchase provider, token website, support chat, or wallet “verification” page. A genuine sender only needs your receiving address.

Network fees and receiving tokens

Select the asset and read the network badge before copying a receiving address. Exodus explains that tokens use the main asset of their network to pay transaction fees.

For example:

  • sending USDT on Ethereum normally requires ETH for the network fee;
  • sending USDT on Tron can require TRX or Tron network resources;
  • BTC, LTC, XRP, and TRX use their own network fee systems.

Receiving a token does not guarantee that you already hold the asset needed to send it later. Prepare for the network fee before relying on the wallet for a payment.

Optional services and privacy

Exodus includes optional buying, selling, and swapping features. These can involve third-party providers with their own availability, identity checks, pricing, terms, and privacy practices. Using the self-custody wallet does not make every integrated service private or account-free.

You can use the wallet without treating an integrated service as the required way to buy. Compare the full quote and the provider's data request before continuing.

When it may fit

Exodus may fit when you want one mobile or desktop wallet for several payment networks and are comfortable checking network badges carefully.

It may be a poor fit when you want a narrowly focused app or need every supported network to work through a browser extension.
